Wow, the Russian Hacker Managed to Steal over 12 million Internet User Data

Technology - Internet network security researchers claimed Russian hackers have taken about 1.2 million user data. The data is a combination of a username and password of the 500 million email addresses. Launched by USA Today, the group entered a way to inject malicious code into about 420,000 sites on the internet. The study lasted for seven months, but the company was aware of the enormity of the hacker activity.

"This is the biggest crime we have ever encountered. We think they're just spammers but it turns out it was a great group of hackers in stealing the database," said Alex Holden, founder and head of information security at Security Hold, Milwaukee.

Unfortunately, Holden doesn't want to explain in detail who the hacker group in question even though they claim to know the name and location of its existence. "The players that are in Russia so not much we can do. These guys are beyond our law," he said.

Holden claimed his company has attempted to contact the victims, but many sites have vulnerabilities encountered. Holden also don't want to describe the intended victims. However, most of them originating auto industry, real estate, oil companies, consultants, business car rental, hotel, computer hardware and software, as well as the food industry.

Based on another security company, it is very difficult to asses if a crime in cyberspace it is the largest or not. The reason is there's always change and improvement occurs. Moreover, cyber crime will only known in along time.

"I always think, surely there will be other events and actors out there," said Marc Maifferet, CTO of BeyondTrust.

According to Marc, the incident is usually done in two general ways. The first attack sites to gain access to the customers database, and the other is the target email each day individual use.
