Findings unique species that is the result of an expedition team hadal Ecosystem Assessment (Hades) to the Mariana Trench located in the Pacific Ocean. With a depth of about 11 kilometers below sea level, it is the deepest trench in the world.
To obtain good quality images, the team lowered unmanned device more than 90 times to depths ranging from 5,000 meters to 10,600 meters.
"Many studies haste to the bottom of the trough. However, from the ecological point of view, the view was very limited. Supposing, as would like to understand the ecosystem of a mountain just by reviewing its peak," said Dr. Jeff Drazen, heads a team of scientists from the University of Hawaii, USA.
About the species of fish found in the depths of 8145 meters, Dr. Alan Jamieson from the University of Aberdeen initially thought he had found Snailfish.
"However, the shape is very strange and as it floats in the air. Incredible shape fragile and, while swimming, he seemed to have wet wipes floating behind. The snout is also strange, like a cartoon dog muzzle," said Jamieson, who participated in the expedition team.
Expedition team also discovered a unique species of crustaceans suspected members of the family. This species has a body length of up to 30 cm.
"We have recorded over 20 hours and we learn how they swim, how they eat, and how the banish predators," said Jamieson.
Prior to this expedition, a record held by Snailfish deepest fish pink (Pseudoliparis amblystomopsis) were found in the Japan Trench at a depth of 7,700 meters.
