Inspiring - Nelson Mandela born in Mvezo, South Africa on July 18, 1918. He died in Johannesburg, South Africa on December 5, 2014 (at age of 95 years old). He is a revolutionary and anti-apartheid South African politican who served as President of South Africa from 1994 till 1999. He was the first black South African who holds that position and the first President elected through a full representation, in an election focused on the elimination of the influence multirace. As an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) in 1991 and 1997. Born from the Thembu royal family and the ethnic Xhosa, Mandela studied law at Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand. When settled in Johannesburg, he was involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the ANC, and became a founding member of the ANC Youth League. After the Afrikaner nationalists of the National Party to power in 1948 and implement the policy of apartheid, Mandela's popularity skyrocketed in the ANC Defiance Campaign in 1952 was elected President of the ANC Transvaal, and attended the Congress of the People in 1955 as a lawyer, he was repeatedly arrested for activities instigate and as chairman of the ANC was tried in the Court of Treason in 1956 until 1961, but finally adjudged not guilty. He later became an accomplished who focuses on charitable activities in order to eradicate poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Controversial nearly all his life, right-wing critics calling Mandela a terrorist and communist sympathizers. Even so, he gained International recognition for its anti-colonial and anti-apartheid, received more than 250 award, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, the United States Presidential Freedom Medal, and the Order of Lenin of the Soviet Union. He's highly respected in South Africa and is better known by his Xhosa clan name, Madiba or grammar. Nelson Mandela is often called "father of the nation".
